                                                                                                        Communications Assistant, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory

We seek an individual to assist inefforts to promote MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and its cutting-edge research on robotics, bigdata, cybersecurity and other computing topics.

Responsibilities:

● Monitor, develop andstrategize about content for external media, internal communications and social media
● Brainstorm story ideas and write news storiesfor CSAIL website
● Generate social media posts for Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Google+
● Conduct in-depth analytics oncommunications, media-monitoring and social-media via Google Analytics, TweetDeck, Facebook Analytics and Meltwater
● Develop medialists and help with media-outreach efforts
● Assist with communications-oriented outreach events
● Organize and expand lab'sdigital-assets management platform
● Create copy for announcements, speeches, talking points, website and event collateral
●Perform other duties as needed

Requirements:

● Must have started or finished a bachelor's degreein communications, journalism, or related field
● Demonstrated experience in a variety of writing styles, including for social media
● Strong interview, research and analytical skills, including ability to develop, assess, and synthesize information and to translatecomplex research and scientific concepts for a general audience
● Demonstrated knowledge of web content strategy and best practicesfor creating compelling content
● Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver on project deadlines
● Excellentinterpersonal skills
● Proficiency with desktop publishing and web-based social media products
● Familiarity with Drupal orother web content management systems a plus, as is specific knowledge of and experience in university research and/or graduate studies

This is a ten to fifteen hour/week position from January to May 2016, with an opportunity to increase hours and/or extend throughthe summer and fall.
